Curling Iron
Materials
Curling iron
Styling gel or mousse
Hairdryer
Hair clips
Procedure Use your fingers to apply styling gel or mousse into damp hair. If you want for a more dry natural curl, go with mousse. Otherwise, go with styling gel.
Blow-dry your hair until it is completely dry.
Use a wide-toothed comb to separate your hair into sections, clipping them separately using hair clips. Work on one section at a time.
Spray the section with soft-hold hairspray.
Start with the tail end of the hair section and work your way towards the top. Open the curling iron and insert your hair. Close it on your hair and make sure that all the tips are enclosed in the curling iron barrel.
Roll the iron up and hold for ten seconds. Do not put the barrel against your scalp, as it will cause it to burn. Do not hold it any longer than ten seconds, as it can also burn your hair away.
Open up the curling iron barrel to release the hair section, now curled. Continue doing Steps 4 to 6 with other sections of your hair.
Shake out the curls. Use your fingers to apply more styling gel or mousse to ensure the curls retain their shape longer. You can also use a light hold hairspray for this purpose.
Hot Rollers
Materials
Medium-sized hot rollers
Styling gel or mousse
Light hold hairspray
Hair clips
Procedure
Apply hair styling gel and mousse on your hair using your fingers.
Blow dry until your hair is completely dry.
Separate sections of your hair using hair clips. Each section should be medium thick each.
Leave one section loose.
Heat the hot rollers to medium heat.
Once the hot roller are ready, wrap one section around the hot roller.
Hold the hair section into position for one or two minutes. If your hair is fine, release it sooner. If not, let it stay longer. Remember that the longer you let the hot roller is in place, the tighter your curls will be. Don’t let it stay too long, though: You might end up burning your hair off.
Take out the hot roller. If the section is still not as curly as you wanted, you can put it back on.
Repeat Steps 6-8 until all sections of your hair are curled.
Shake out the curls and apply light hold hairspray for the curls to retain their shape longer.
